HomeHelp.ie, A Nanny and Caregiver Agency

A RESPONSIVE AND ACCESSIBLE COMPANY

Cerebral Palsy
  • Finding someone qualified to care for your loved one can be overwhelming. However, providing respite care for children with developmental or physical disabilities is not unlike providing respite for any other child. Knowing the kinds of behaviours your child is likely to exhibit, our trained respite Carers are then prepared to deal with any unusual needs of your child.

  • Our Special Needs Respite service offers:

There are three components to developing a successful respite program. Building trust is probably the key ingredient. Training respite Carers is one step in this process. Establishing close working relationships with your family and ensuring close supervision are other important parts to a successful program

    Training

  • Our respite Carers meet the family and get to know the child
  • The Carer asks parents about specific assistance he or she may need to provide
  • Parents demonstrate how they assist their child to move, eat, and go to the bathroom
  • Our respite Carer works with the child on each of the specific skills parents request until parents are comfortable in how the Carer performs
  • It is important to note that respite care is recreational and does not include therapy or treatment for the child with the disability

The trust that families need does not occur overnight. At HomeHelp.ie we allow a considerable amount of time for the respite program to become fully operational within the family.
